Re: Is "entrepreneur" the right label for you?

It's funny, since I wrote this and shed the entrepreneur label I've probably moved much closer to the entrepreneurial dream as I interpreted it: reaching my financial goals without giving my business more than I could offer it.
I like "business owner" too - it covers it all. And it's about OWNING it!

Re: The pain when scarcity mindset bites you back

Honesty and clarity took this client relationship a long way. I'm making my "just enough to be ok" rate and I think we'll work together to create a finished project we're both proud of. But this has better be it! Onto "abundance" clients!

Re: What the "vocal fry" debate can teach you about writing powerful blog posts

And if you do - and if I do too - so what? It's ridiculous to fear we're committing some speech pattern sin we can't even recognize because the old guard finds it irritating. I bet my spaghetti strap sundresses bother old ladies. I've never cared about that.

Re: How to deal with social media trolls

And somewhere in between there are good old fashioned cranks and whiners. Neither offering legit contributions nor hiding behind internet anonymity to scatter the nasty as a hobby, there are the people who just don't think before they type. Oh yeah... A real person might read this and have feelings!

Re: Is it time to stop giving stuff away for free?

Kirstin, thinking back to what I've gotten for free (what I recall at least): most meaningful is the stuff I got from people i later invested in. Otherwise, I may vakue the content but totally forget the source.

Re: Is it time to stop giving stuff away for free?

I agree we're entering a post "free report" age, Sheryl. What do you think is the alternative when it comes to list building? I'm ambivalent, but I'm preparing one - including a video series! - because I'm guest posting for a big site that speaks right to my ideal client. I'm tailoring it to them, c...

What the "vocal fry" debate can teach you about writing powerful blog posts

Vocal fry... Does it make you crazy? Do you do it yourself? Do you have any idea what I'm talking about? An open letter from feminist writer Naomi Wolf appeared in The Guardian last week. She was taking young women to task for a growly vocal habit they call "vocal fry." I'd never noticed it or been ...

Re: Don't Judge Those at the Poverty Level

"Poverty is not a character failing or a lack of motivation. Poverty is a shortage of money." And some poor people have crappy character. Guess what - rich people do too. Conversations about the social safety net always seem to be black and white - or red and blue. How can we pick sides in terms of ...

How to deal with social media trolls

Last year I co-authored a book with My teacher and mentor. We got a sour grapes review on Amazon and while I would not call the guy a traditional troll since it seems he'd actually bought the book and wisdom card deck that accompanies it, his words were harsh. He just expected something in particula...

Re: Kristin Drysdale: Speaker, Writer, Media Relations Strategist

So excited to get to know you in this community, Kristin! Somehow our circles overlapped a fair bit over at G+ but we never really had a chance to connect - woman to woman, writer to writer, mama to mama. My interest in G+ has waned a bit - but then, I backed off from social in general as I paused a...

Re: Best darn kale soup in the world

If the kale would absolutely kill you, there's "the other green soup" featuring broccoli and cauliflower: http://m.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipe/vegan-creamy-broccoli-cauliflower-soup We're gluten free here and skipped the sour dough bread and it was still grand, but I bet the fresh bread cubes would ...

Lany and Jess - sorry I missed your responses! Jeffrey is good people - and he has a wealth to offer both for entrepreneurs and authors.

He has a big community building challenge going on right now but I've been in RCUW mode and haven't played a part in it. All of his work is worth checking out.
